Mini Sheet Music Wreath Tree Ornaments

Do you make your own Christmas tree decorations, buy them all, or maybe mix it up between the two?

I like to mix it up.
This year I'm changing up my colour scheme from silver & blue to silver & turquoise with a shot of red.

These little sheet music wreaths hung on your tree are the perfect way to feel like your craftiness contributed to your Christmas decor.

What you will need:
-sheet music (i like to use vintage because of the "yellowed" look)
-a hot glue gun & hot glue sticks
-cardboard cut into circles
-a printer to print the word "joy" or some letter stickers
-paper
-glitter glue
-ribbon to hang them

Start by cutting the sheet music into rectangles. Roll the rectangles, making one end narrower than the other. Use hot glue to secure the narrow end.

Continue making the rolls until you have enough to form a wreath shape.

Print the word 'Joy' in your favourite font on your printer. You will want two - one for each side of the ornament. Mount onto the cut circles & trim around the circle with scissors.

Working on the back of one of the circles, first glue a loop of ribbon to the centre so you will be able to hang your ornament.

Next, take the rolls that you've made & start gluing them to the back of the circle. I find it the easiest to make a cross with 4 of the rolls - think north, south, east, & west - then fill in the gaps. You may have to squish the ends down as you glue them to cut down on bulk.

After you've glued all of your rolls, glue on the second circle so both sides look the same. It also covers up all that hot glue. :)

Now, use whatever colour glitter glue you like to add glitter to the ends & around the middle circles. I like to use Stickles because the bottle has such a fine tip that makes it easy to apply.

Let dry.

Now you're ready to hang them on your Christmas tree to enjoy all season long!

It's Craft Fair Season!

Happy Fall, Y'all!

Yesterday was our church's annual Fall Festival. An afternoon of carnival type food, entertainment (arm wrestling & our teen band), fun for the kids (face painting, photo booth, bouncy house, & a hay maze), & a mini craft fair!

This was my third year participating & I think it was my most successful yet!

Leading up to this year's festival, I'd been doing a lot of research on sprucing up my craft table display. I'm very happy with how it turned out & I think it looked much more inviting this year.

My main goal was to bring the displays off of the table a bit more. No more flat! I purchased some vintage apple boxes & used them to display things on and in. Dual function is always a good thing!

I strung up some twine in one of the boxes & used mini clothes pins to hang up some of my owl ornaments.

Here, you can see the yellow table cloth. It was actually a duvet cover that I thifted some time ago. I took out the side seams & ta-da! A perfectly cheery tablecloth.

I used one of my milk glass bowls to display place cards (They were a big hit!).

In the other apple box I displayed my hoop art & my tissue paper flowers.

On top of the boxes I displayed my gift card pillow boxes. I had the Christmas ones on the other side.

I also used some pretty vintage doilies / embroidered napkins on the tops of the apple boxes to add a homey touch.

Here you see it all together.

I added washi tape mini bunting to the front of the table along with a "Silver Boxes" banner.

I had someone tell me that it looked like a party... Shopping is fun after all, right? ;)

In the middle of the table, I used an old frame that I had lying around. (Literally. Under my guest bed.)
I bought some chicken wire at Home Depot & my husband kindly helped me out by stapling it into the frame.

Then I used some clothes pins to pin up some of my handmade cards.

Some polka dot garlands are draped on either side of the frame.

Are you a crafter who has a table or booth at some local craft fairs?

They're a lot of fun. I've already got another one lined up for November!

What's Keeping Me From Blogging

I've had such good intentions in terms of getting back into the blogging swing of things this fall.

Then I signed up for several fall & Christmas craft fairs... that kind of changed everything!

I've been spending every spare moment on crafting - which is fun, but I haven't been able to put any posts together about any one craft.

So today I'm going to show you all the bits that I've been working on these past few weeks!

I've finished stitching 20 little owl Christmas tree decorations for my craft booth.

Did you know that a group of owls is called a parliament? True story. I googled it. ;)

You can find the owl tutorial HERE.

I also hunted down (with some help from a friend) these vintage crates to use as display props in my craft booth...

Isn't that vintage apple sign the coolest?

...And made some easy washi tape bunting to cutify my craft booth.

I managed to put up my fall decorations last week. I copied some of the things I did last year & came up with a few fresh ideas too.

Now that the weather is cooler & the kids are back in school, I've been doing a bit of baking - some old favourites.

I had hoped to get to all these projects as soon as the kids were back in school, but I'm just now getting to the first one! Ahhh!

This weekend, my honey & I sanded down the dresser we bought on Kijiji earlier this summer. We also bought some feet that we're going to add to the bottom. It's almost ready to paint. As soon as it's done it will go in our master bedroom. I can't wait! The dresser we have now is falling apart so the sooner we can get this gem finished up, the better!

So that's what I've been working on in between my regular homemaking duties, driving the kids around, & doing some volunteer work.

It's been a great September so far! Sorry it's taken me so long to share it with you!

Shopping Bag Turned Gift Bag

I always enjoy walking out of a store with a paper shopping bag. Especially these lovely turquoise bags from David's Tea.

Besides that fact that you're getting some retail therapy, they are also so easy to upcycle to a pretty gift bag!

Start with the shopping bag, glue or an adhesive runner, a pretty patterned paper, & some handmade tissue paper flowers. {Find my tutorial here!}

Diaper Box Upcycle Tutorial

Hello, friends!

Today I have an extra special treat for you... my beautiful friend, Darlene, is going to share with you how she made these fun "baskets" for her baby's change table.

Aren't they super fun?

Darlene & I have been friends for many years - since our college days!
She is a SAHM to her 3 adorable children. She makes divine bath & body products.
(Her bath bombs are the BEST!)

In the last year or so, I've started to see Darlene share some of her other creations & home decor on Facebook. I asked her if she would like to share a project with my readers & I'm thrilled she said yes!

She's put together a fabulous tutorial on how to upcycle diaper boxes into storage baskets!

Enjoy!

Paint Dipped Votive Holders

Happy Monday!

How was your weekend? Mine was mostly good. Our little girl had the flu on Saturday, but rested a lot & got better quickly. I ended up staying home from church with her on Sunday just to make sure she didn't have any more episodes. :) Because we were home & she was resting, I hung out in my craft room for a good portion of the weekend. I pulled up my Pinterest boards & did a whole bunch of little projects. It was great to be so productive!

Here's one of the projects I did. I actually just saw a picture & did my own thing to come up with the end result, so I did a little tutorial so you can follow along if you want to try making some of your own paint dipped votive holders.

A Simple Valentine Centerpiece

Last week I started a couple of Valentine projects to spiffy up the house for February.

Here's a super fast & easy Valentine centerpiece that you can whip up in under an hour!

All you need is a large cylinder vase, 3 paper doilies, paper hearts (I cut mine with my Cricut from some pretty scrapbook papers), a sewing machine, thread, & some baker's twine.

I started by laying out the paper doilies & arranging the hearts.

Then, I simply fed them through the sewing machine using a wide zigzag stitch.

I wrapped it around my vase & secured it with some turquoise baker's twine.

I added my trusty battery operated pillar candle.

Done!

(At night.)

I also cut some extra hearts & put them in my seasonal wreath. (You can see more seasons here & here.)

It's official: The Valentine's decorating has begun!

Have you started decorating for Valentine's Day? What kind of decor do you enjoy?
