Strawberries & Cream Trifle

On Friday evening, I had the pleasure of attending a baby shower for a dear friend of mine. We were celebrating the birth of her precious little boy.
The night was full of delicious food & desserts, cuddles with the new baby, & laughter with friends. Perfection.
I was asked to bring a dessert of some kind
so I was thinking through some of my favourite things to bring to a party,
& this trifle popped into my mind.

It's a wonderful thing for a spring party. After all, strawberries just scream spring, don't you think?
Just look at the yummy layers of angel food cake, strawberries, custard, & jam... **drool**

Strawberries & Cream Trifle
makes 10-12 servings

1 can (300 ml) sweetened condensed milk
1-1/2 cups cold water
1 package (4 serving size) vanilla instant pudding mix
2 cups whipping cream, whipped
1 angel food cake, torn into bite sized pieces
4 cups fresh strawberries, cleaned, hulled, & sliced
1 cup strawberry jam
Additional strawberries & toasted slivered almonds for garnish

In a large mixer bowl, combine sweetened condensed milk & water. Add pudding mix; beat well. Chill until thickened, about 20 minutes. Fold in whipped cream.

Mix strawberry jam with 1 or 2 Tbsp of water to thin it out a bit.

To assemble the trifle:
Spoon 2 cups of the pudding mixture into a large glass serving bowl
Top with half of the cake pieces
Top with half of the sliced strawberries
Top with half of the jam
Top with half of the remaining pudding mixture
Repeat layers, ending with pudding mixture.

Chill at least 4 hours.

Garnish with additional strawberries & almonds.

Serve & start saying, "Thank you". You'll be receiving many compliments. Mark my words.
Cover & refrigerate leftovers (if there are any).
