Paint Dipped Votive Holders

Happy Monday!

How was your weekend? Mine was mostly good. Our little girl had the flu on Saturday, but rested a lot & got better quickly. I ended up staying home from church with her on Sunday just to make sure she didn't have any more episodes. :) Because we were home & she was resting, I hung out in my craft room for a good portion of the weekend. I pulled up my Pinterest boards & did a whole bunch of little projects. It was great to be so productive!

Here's one of the projects I did. I actually just saw a picture & did my own thing to come up with the end result, so I did a little tutorial so you can follow along if you want to try making some of your own paint dipped votive holders.

Supply list:
  • Paint (I used acrylic craft paint that I already had in my stash)
  • Glass votive holders (the dollar store always has lots of options!)
  • A bit of water to thin the paint
  • Plastic cups to mix paint & water
  • Styrofoam plates
  • plastic spoons for stirring

Pour some of your paint into the cups.

Add a little bit of water & stir. You don't want it too watery, just thin enough that it's not gloppy.

Pour 1 colour of paint into a styrofoam plate & start dipping. Use a clean plate for each colour.

I wanted a bit of a scalloped edge, so I dipped a side then turned the candle holder & dipped the next little bit. Don't forget to dip the bottom too.

Place on a clean styrofoam plate to dry. When the sides are dry, take them off the plate, place them upside down, & let the bottoms dry.

When they're dry, pop in a votive or tea light & enjoy!

I really like that you can customize them to any colour you could possibly want! I think I'll do a big bunch for our patio when the summer comes. Lots of summery colours would be fun!

I hope you had a great weekend!
