Butterfly Baby Card & Gift Bag

Spring & summer sure seem to be Baby Season. We're past that season in our lives, but we have friends who are welcoming new little ones into their lives. I always find it fun to shop for baby gifts... all those tiny little outfits, colourful toys, & cute books.

When I bring the gift home, I want to give it an equally cute presentation for the recipient.

Here's an easy gift bag & matching card that I made for the next baby that makes his/her happy appearance.

The butterflies I used are from Making Memories & have two layers - one paper, one vellum.
I layered them together & simply stapled them together. Then adhered them to the plain white bag.

I did the same thing with the ones on the card. Then added a simple rub-on from Stampin' Up.

I love the 3-dimentional look of the butterflies.

Strawberry Daiquiri Pops

Are you spending these hot summer days outside or in? We love to enjoy the warm weather outdoors, so that means we need to have plenty of cold drinks & frozen treats to cool us off!

Our whole family enjoys this refreshing summer treat.

The first time I tasted an actual strawberry daiquiri was in Mexico at a fabulous natural water park.
Since I don't drink alcohol, I ordered a virgin daiquiri. I tell you - delish!!

Strawberry Daiquiri Pops  {Print recipe}
makes 14 Dixie cup sized pops

1 can frozen strawberry daiquiri mix (I use Bacardi mixers - found near the frozen juice), slightly thawed
2 cups frozen strawberries (in syrup or not - it's up to you)
1 1/2 cups water

~Combine all ingredients in blender & blend until mixed, but strawberries are still a bit chunky.

~Pour into Dixie cups, cover with plastic wrap & put a popsicle stick through the plastic wrap.

~Freeze overnight.

~To serve, run the Dixie cup under warm water for a few seconds to loosen the pop.

Enjoy!

I hope you enjoy this super easy summer treat!

Felt Balloon Card

A few years ago, my parents were blessed to be able to take a trip in a hot air balloon. It was so fun to go to the park with them & our kids & see the huge balloon being set up & filled with hot air. Then to see them float away into the evening sky. It was so lovely. Of course they returned safely. :) It was one of the highlights of that summer.

This balloon card reminds me of that fun evening in the park...

You Had Me At Hello {Mailbox Makeover}

Once upon a time, there was a house. The people who lived there were nice & tried their very best to take care of the house. When they moved in, they bought it a shiny silver mailbox to wear. The house loved the mailbox & wore it with pride.

Over the years, the mailbox grew less & less shiny & it eventually started to rust.

The little house looked a little sad wearing the rusty mailbox, so the owners decided to cheer up the house by fixing up the mailbox. They gave it a shiny coat of black spray paint & the lady of the house stencilled the word "hello" on the lid.

The house once again looked cheery & welcomed it's guests with a happy "Hello".

The End. :)

I'm so glad I finally got to this project! It's been awhile in coming, but I'm happy with the end result.

The "hello" makes me smile whenever I get the mail. :)

DIY Doily Gift Bag

I'm back again today with another gift wrap idea. Seriously, this is turning into a series. :)

This is another way to pretty up a plain coloured gift bag.

Here's what you need:
  • Gift bag
  • Paper doilies
  • A stapler
  • Glue Dots, double sided tape, or hot glue
I followed this tutorial to make the large doily flower on the front of the bag.

Then, I attached it to the bag with the Glue Dots.

To make the doily ruffle at the top of the bag, I followed these steps:

  1. Cut a paper doily in half & accordion fold it.
  2. Gather the bottom edges together to make a little fan.
  3. Squish the edges together & staple.
  4. Adhere to the inside of the gift bag in a row with glue dots, double sided tape, or a hot glue gun.
  5. Repeat on the other side.

Cuteness!

Wouldn't you like to receive a gift in a bag like this?

Who knows, maybe I'll give it to you! ;)
