EXCITED!

  I. Can't. Stop. Smiling. :D

Via

Wanna know why?

Because I just got an email from Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine telling me that they want to publish one of my cards in their Winter issue!!!!

I've been submitting to various scrapbook magazines over the past 6 years (although sporadically; not at all faithfully) in the hopes of having one of my layouts or cards featured in a magazine someday. Now it's finally happened!

And I'm pretty pumped.

I'll share more details when the publication hits the stands in December.

Smiles,

Butterfly Baby Card & Gift Bag

Spring & summer sure seem to be Baby Season. We're past that season in our lives, but we have friends who are welcoming new little ones into their lives. I always find it fun to shop for baby gifts... all those tiny little outfits, colourful toys, & cute books.

When I bring the gift home, I want to give it an equally cute presentation for the recipient.

Here's an easy gift bag & matching card that I made for the next baby that makes his/her happy appearance.

The butterflies I used are from Making Memories & have two layers - one paper, one vellum.
I layered them together & simply stapled them together. Then adhered them to the plain white bag.

I did the same thing with the ones on the card. Then added a simple rub-on from Stampin' Up.

I love the 3-dimentional look of the butterflies.

Felt Balloon Card

A few years ago, my parents were blessed to be able to take a trip in a hot air balloon. It was so fun to go to the park with them & our kids & see the huge balloon being set up & filled with hot air. Then to see them float away into the evening sky. It was so lovely. Of course they returned safely. :) It was one of the highlights of that summer.

This balloon card reminds me of that fun evening in the park...

Resin Flower Thank You Card

Don't you love getting real mail? I mean going to the mailbox, reaching in & not just extracting bills & junk mail, but finding an actual card or letter from a friend or beloved family member? I get a little thrill every time we receive mail with a hand written address on the envelope. It gives me a little reminder of when I was a kid & I would collect the mail from our P.O. box in the small town where we lived. Every once in a while I would get a piece of mail! What a thrill that was... and still is!

I think when I make my cards it's my way of sharing that feeling with my friends & family. I try very hard to send out thank you cards for gifts & kind deeds, even if just to bring a smile to someone's face.

Here's my most recent Thank you card creation...

I hope I've inspired you to share some love with a friend or family member.
Don't always rely on email... receiving some good, old fashioned snail mail is still alot of fun!

Felt Tree Cards

This weekend, my husband & son went on a family canoeing adventure. While they were away, my daughter & I holed up in my craft room & created to our heart's content. I completed 5 card designs, 3 craft projects, 4 gift wrap ideas, & 1 scrapbook layout! I'm so excited to have so much to share with you in the next few weeks before our summer vacation.

This is one of the card designs created this weekend...

I'm not sure exactly when my love for cute little trees started. Several years ago when the trend first started, I guess. That these trees are made of felt makes them even cuter to me!

Shabby Chic Baby Card {My Mind's Eye}

Last week, a friend of mine asked me for a shabby chic baby card using pink & soft colours.

Here's what I created:

Supplies Used:
  • Cardstock - Michaels
  • Patterned Papers - My Mind's Eye (Lines: Stella & Rose, Lost & Found)
  • Tag - My Mind's Eye
  • Pearl Brad - American Crafts
  • Scallop Punch & Corner Rounder Punch - Stampin' Up!
  • I made the flower with my Cricut machine. Cartridge used - George & Basic Shapes

I love the end result & so did my friend.
In fact, I think I'll make more of these for my card stash, I like them it so much!

On a different note, I know that my posts have been hit & miss for the past couple of months.
For that, I apologize.
I plan to make up for that by doing extra posts in June. I hope you enjoy what I have planned!

Enjoy your day!

Cheery Mother's Day Card

Mother's Day is just around the corner... are you prepared or do you still need to rush to the store?
I'm a little of both, this year. My cards are done, but the gifts have yet to be purchased.

(Mom, if you're seeing this, you can just pretend to be surprised on Sunday.) :)

Spring Cards

Last month, I attended a scrapbook fundraiser that my sister-in-law, Carrie, organized for her children's school.
Each of the attendees paid a fee to attend & the school (organized by Carrie) provided a huge table for each person to work at, meals for the day, & workshops that you could attend to learn some new techniques.
We brought our scrapbook gear & got our creative juices flowing!

There was a great turn out & tonnes of raffle prizes that were donated. Alas, I didn't win anything this year.
Oh well. :)

Here are a few of the cards I created that weekend...

Note Card Set No. 3

If you haven't already noticed, I'm constantly on a quest to use up my paper scraps.

This note card set uses a chevron design made of strips of patterned papers.

I made some pink, yellow, & blue, & then a combination of the three with the leftovers.

I finished them off with a strip of white with a sentiment stamped on it.

Then a small die cut butterfly (from the dollar store) mounted on a foam square.

Do you have anything that you make out of your scraps? I'm always looking for new ideas... please leave me a comment & let me know what you like to make.

Enjoy your day!
