Pretty As A Princess {Echo Park}

Last weekend, I spent a wonderful time with some friends at a scrapbooking retreat. I'm still plugging away at our Disney album so that's what I worked on the whole time.

I was excited to scrapbook these photos from the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Disneyland because I could pull out my girly stash & make something pretty. I guess I was tired of all the yellow & red Mickey Mouse products I had been working with. :)

As you can see, my journalling isn't done. I'm leaving it all to the end & will do it all at once... hopefully.

Like I did with the wedding card I recently made, I cut up some jewel flourishes I had to make them stretch & work with my layout.

Products used:

  • Cardstock - American Crafts
  • Patterned Paper - Echo Park
  • Scalloped border sticker - Echo Park
  • Journalling sticker - Echo Park
  • Silver letter stickers - Making Memories
  • Paper flowers - Michael's
  • Jewel flourish - Dollarama
  • Single jewels - Michael's

Wuv, True Wuv {Grey & Yellow Wedding Card}

Remember that part from The Princess Bride where
That never gets old for me. I laugh every. single. time.

"Wuv, twue wuv..." I'm laughing even now...

Okay, I'm trying to be serious now. That's what the "True Love" rub-on I used on this card made me think of.

Ahhh, funny what random phrases can trigger, hey?

Anyhoo...

Do you still love grey & yellow as much as I do?

Good. I'm still in major like. I was at a wedding a year ago that had grey & yellow as the colours & it was gorgeous! My favourite wedding colour palette to date, I think.

This was a fairly simple card to pull together. The only tricky part was the bling. The way it was originally configured didn't work on the card, so I cut it into a few sections & pieced it together in a design that worked for me.

I've had those yellow paper flowers in my stash for a few years now. It's about time I used them! ;)

After adding the grey ribbon across the bottom, I decided the card needed a bit more yellow so I layered a thin, yellow, velvet ric-rac ribbon over it. I really like the effect!

Products used:
  • Cardstock - Stampin' Up!
  • Patterned Paper - Echo Park
  • Swirly bling - Dollarama
  • Paper flowers & yellow gem - Michael's
  • Grey ribbon - Stampin' Up!
  • Yellow ric-rac - American Crafts
  • "True Love" rub-on - Stampin' Up!

Over The Rainbow Card

Do the dreary days of winter ever get you down?  I, for one, sure love to see colour & clear skies during these cold months!

Another thing I love during the winter (well, really anytime of year) is connecting with friends. Wouldn't you love to receive a happy, colourful, cheerful card from a friend on a cold, dreary day?

Me too.

The idea from this card was lifted from a card I saw in a magazine awhile ago - I think it was Paper Crafts magazine.

I just love the colourful rainbow effect of the ribbons!

Miniland, U.S.A. Layout {Basic Grey}

I'm still working (bit by bit) on scrapbooking our photos from last summer's epic road trip. I've shared several layouts with you already & I plan to do alot more in the months to come. I have 2 scrapping retreats coming up - one in February & one in March - both are fundraisers & a great way to support some great causes & get some time in with friends/do some crafting!

Can't wait!

Anyway, along to today's layout. :)

Legoland was one of our major stops on our trip & my son's birthday wish was to celebrate there.
It was pretty fantastic that we were able to swing it & be there on his actual birthday!

If you haven't been there, miniland is one of the major attractions - I think it was my favourite part of the whole park. It's major world attractions done entirely in lego!

Products used:
Cardstock - Colorbok
Patterned Paper - Basic Grey
Stickers - Basic Grey
Airplane ribbon - Making Memories
Glittered chipboard letters - American Crafts

Stay tuned for more layouts from our trip! I'm really wanting to dive into my photos, hole up in my craft room, & create for hours, but life doesn't always rarely allows that & I may have to wait for my crafty retreats. Until then, I'll get in what little time I can.

Hugs & Kisses Card

Back in August, I got some very exciting news - one of my card creations was chosen to be published in the winter issue of Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine!

I wasn't allowed to post photos of it anywhere on the net until it hit the newsstands at the beginning of December.

I was very excited to get my copy in the mail at the end of November. Then things got busy with Christmas & because it's a Valentine's card, I thought I'd wait to share it with you all.

So, at long last, here it is. My first published creation.

Products Used:
Cardstock - Michaels
Patterned paper & sticker - Echo Park
Gem tape - Making Memories
Notebook Punch & Ink - Stampin' Up!

After having this card published, it makes me want to submit my work more regularly!

Christmas Banner Tutorial

This past weekend, one of my projects was to make a couple of banners for a friend of mine. Similar to last year's Christmas banner, but with the words "Joy To The World" on in.

I selected some different papers but in the same colour scheme, found some gold ribbon, eyelets, & glitter. Then I went to work.

Here's how I did it:

Using your Cricut, cut out rectangles.
I used the George & Basic Shapes cartridge & used size 5 1/2".

Cut backgrounds out of cream cardstock.
I used the Birthday Bash cartridge & used size 5 1/2" for these as well.

Adhere the cream backgrounds to the pattered rectangles.

Cut out your letters with your Cricut.
I used the Winter Wonderland cartridge & used size 3".

I also cut out a cute bird & some flourishes to help with the word spacing.

The bird is from the Winter Wonderland cartridge in size 3".

The Flourishes are from the Cindy Loo cartridge in size 2 1/2".

Then add eyelets to the top corners of each rectangle.
I used my Big Bite Crop-a-Dile for this.

Then add glitter along the edges of the cream cardstock. Use a toothpick to correct any mistakes. Trust me, it works like a charm!

I use Stickles glitter glue.

Wait for the glitter to dry & then thread ribbon through holes.

Hang it wherever you wish...

... and enjoy it for the entire Christmas season!

I really love the glittery shimmer of all the gold on this banner - not usually my style, but beautiful!

I hope I've inspired you to try making a banner of your own to help you celebrate the Christmas season.

Christmas Crafts & Recipes Of The Past...

Now that American Thanksgiving is over, I know a lot of you are looking for Christmas ideas & recipes to get started on. I know I'm always keeping my eyes peeled for new ideas!

Since many of you have followed along since last December (Thank you!), today I'm doing a run-down of my favourite crafts, recipes, & projects from last Christmas.

Let's start with some fun crafts...

I still need to make one of these babies for myself! I made a few last year & sold them all. Must. Keep. One. :)

These little trees were so fun to discover as I pulled them out again this year. They're a fun part of our decor.

Possibly my favourite Christmas craft ever! I have these arranged on a wreath this year with some twinkle lights.
Let Heaven & nature sing...

Light Bulb Snowmen (with photo tutorial!)

Our kids get such a kick out of these snowmen every year.
They love that they have one that is personalized & belongs to each one of us.

These sparkly cones are filling a metal lantern in my front entryway this year.

Now on to recipes...

Classic Sugar Cookies (No rolling or cutting needed!)

Merry Berry Cheese Bars (Cranberry Cheesecake Bars)

Almost Instant Buckeyes (Another fast one!)

Cards, tags, & gift card holders...

Use your Cricut or Silhouette to cut out some cute shapes, attach string & create your own gift tags!

Make your own simple gift card holder for those hard to buy for people.

Create a few custom made Christmas cards for your friends & family with these ideas.

Those are just my favourites! I hope you found some inspiration here.

Fast & Easy Stamped Snowflake Card

Do you make your own Christmas cards? Some years I do, & others I don't. I haven't for the past few years, but this year I made some for the craft fairs I've been doing.

Here's a super fast & easy card that is also beautiful!

I picked up these snowflake stamps in the dollar bins at Michaels a few weeks ago. A couple of inks, some bling, & a sentiment & wham bam - done! Just be sure to give time for the white ink, the liquid pearls, & the stickles to dry. :)

Products used:

Cardstock: Bazill Basics
Snowflake Stamps: Michaels
Ink: Stampin' Up! (Not Quite Navy) & Color Box (White)
Sentiment Stamp: My Mind's Eye
Liquid Pearls
Silver Stickles
